Vibe code rescue
Built fast with AI tools? I check security, data handling, and tests for a fixed price, then quote the fixes.
I'm a software engineer in Portland, Oregon. I spent three years building Stripe's billing and invoicing tools, and two years before that at GitHub. These days I help startups with their Rails apps, and small businesses with the software that runs their day: payments, bookings, and all the tools that need to talk to each other.
Up to 20 hours a week. Remote, on Pacific time. Writing Ruby since 2013.

I helped build Stripe's billing APIs. I'll find out why Stripe and your database disagree, and fix it for good.
Twenty hours a month on your Rails team: tickets, code review, upgrades, AI features, and mentoring.
Bookings, email, calendars, and spreadsheets that update each other, so nobody copies details between tabs.
Booking and checkout set up so money and customer details land in the right place.
A few hours a month for fixes, small changes, and keeping things running, including whatever your last developer left behind.
2026 to now
Built and run the customer platform for a Portland wellness business. Bookings and purchases flow straight into their email marketing, with a Slack assistant and Google Workspace automation on top.
2024 to 2026
Built and owned integrations with Stripe, Airtable, and AWS Cognito, plus AI features and an internal Claude plugin marketplace.
2020 to 2022
Built and hardened the public APIs businesses use for invoices and subscriptions. Helped launch a new product line in under 18 months while the team grew from 8 to 80 engineers.
2017 to 2019
Technical lead for GitHub Projects. Owned Issues, Milestones, Labels, and Assignees, and built REST and GraphQL APIs.
Before that: New Relic, HashiCorp, Instructure, and a stint as Ruby Together's Empress of Documentation.
I've spent a decade mentoring engineers and designing onboarding, including rebuilding Stripe's code review training. I get comfortable with a new team quickly, I explain things in plain language, and I leave things better documented than I found them.
"A true culture carrier on the team."
"A force of nature in the best kind of way."
